Time to Chronicle
In the US protests are starting to organize over the deaths of Ahmaud Arbury, Breonna Taylor and George Floyd. There are countless others, but with the recent release of the George Floyd video, in the midst of an already rigorous pandemic, it has lead to too much. Yet, as a writer, it understand what this means.
This is a time to chronicle.
Not just with video...with words, music, pictures, macaroni doodles if you must.
But capture these thoughts and moments of rage, of exhaustion, of stress related asphyxiation, of fear (for person or those around us), the wishes for a different time and place.
Here are a few prompts:
“During the time of corona, I witnessed/saw/felt...”
“The nightmare was happening again while I was awake watching the news/scrolling social media/reading the newspaper of another brutal black killing. I felt...”
“Are we yet at war? It seems so because...”
“I want to scream/I am anxious because...”
“These are the things I have the privilege of doing..../This is how I can use what I have to help make things right...”
“This is what it would take for me to be able to guard my peace/heal right now....”
Write with me.
